  • Technically, not ‘boiled,’ the Air Fryer eliminates watching a pot on the stove and there’s zero cleanup!
  • Cook hard-boiled eggs to soft, medium, or hard depending on preference and use and the peels slide off easily!
  • Hard-boiled eggs can be enjoyed as a high-protein snack, deviled eggs, or egg salad. Along with Air Fryer toast, breakfast can be ready in minutes!

One Simple Ingredient

Eggs – The freshest eggs have the best flavor! Check for freshness by dropping each one into a glass of water. If they float, discard them; if they sink to the bottom and roll to one side, they’re still fresh.

How to Hard Boil Eggs in the Air Fryer

  1. Preheat Air Fryer according to recipe instructions.
  2. Cook eggs in a single layer in the Air Fryer (per recipe below)
  3. Once cooked, plunge the eggs into an ice bath to stop the cooking process and chill them.

For soft-boiled eggs, set the timer for 11 to 12 minutes at 250°F.

For medium-boiled eggs, set the timer for 13 to 14 minutes at 250°F.

For hard-boiled eggs, set the timer for 16 to 18 minutes at 250°F.

Tips for the Perfect Hard-Boiled Egg

  • Make sure to use eggs right from the fridge. If they are at room temperature, decrease the cooking time.
  • Always refer to the user guide and practice on one or two eggs to figure out the best times and temps for your model.
  • Peel eggs when they are cool enough to handle. Gently tap the bottom of the egg on a hard surface and then roll it until the shell is cracked all the way around. Gently remove the shell with your fingers while running the egg under cold water.

Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs

Air Fryer hard boiled eggs are cooked to perfection everytime.

Cook Time 18 minutes
Total Time 18 minutes

Ingredients  

  • 8 large eggs

Instructions 

  • Preheat air fryer to 250°F.
  • Add eggs in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • For hard-cooked eggs cook for 16-18 minutes. Once cooked place in an ice bath until cool.
  • Peel under cool running water.

Notes

You can cook as many eggs at one time as you need. 
Eggs are cooked directly from the fridge (cold). If your eggs are room temperature, you may need to adjust cooking time.
These were tested in both a Vortex Air Fryer and two different Cosori Air Fryers. Other brands may vary by a minute or two and it may take a couple of batches to learn your machine. Cook just one or two eggs at first to be certain they’re cooked how you like them.

    I actually learned this fantastic method a few years ago using my regular oven. Although I loved cooking them this way, after peeling off the shell, I noticed a slight ‘bruise’ on the hardened egg white where the eggs had touched each other (they must have rolled a bit into each other when I placed them in my oven, but no taste difference). Then in late 2021, I bought my Vortex Air Fryer Oven, and this experiment for ‘hard-baking’ eggs was my first attempt. I used the ‘Bake’ setting as I figured I had baked them in my oven, and in my opinion they turned out even better than from using the oven. Same as your recipe, I timed them at 260 degrees for 17 mins., I left them with door open for 9 mins. and then immediately placed them into an ice- and water-filled bowl and put the bowl in the fridge. I use eight eggs at a time, but I don’t believe the number of eggs matter. I still can’t get over how much more fluffier and spongier the texture of the whites and yolks are, and without any ‘bruising’.

  2. I never could get the eggs to hard boiled stage. 9 Minutes made them a soft and runny yolk.
    Three more minutes still did not harden them enough. I was cooking 6 eggs. Was that too many at one time?
