Amazing Air Fryer Granola!

  • The air fryer makes granola with minimal prep work! Traditional granola can take up to an hour to bake in the oven, but with the air fryer, it’s just mixed up, spread in the air fryer, and cooked until it’s golden brown and crispy!
  • This recipe for homemade granola lets you control the ingredients and create your own nutritious and delicious granola recipe. Granola is a popular breakfast and snack food, but many store-bought brands are loaded with sugar and preservatives.
  • If you are experimenting with different granola ingredients, the air fryer is perfect for making small batches until you find your favorite blend, or to customize batches for different uses as a snack, a topping for yogurt, a smoothie bowl, or chia seed pudding.

Ingredients and Variations

Oatmeal – Rolled oats are preferred over old-fashioned or quick oats for homemade granola because they are more nutritious, the nutty flavor is more pronounced, and they have a firmer texture that keeps the oats crispier once they’re cooked in the air fryer. Use gluten-free oats to keep this granola gluten-free.

Nuts – Walnuts and oatmeal go hand in hand, but any nut will work! Pecans, almonds, pistachios, and even sunflower seeds or pepitas are all good options! Or swirl in some nut butter like peanut butter or almond butter.

Oil – Coconut oil is a healthier fat than vegetable oil and provides a nutty flavor. Canola oil, avocado oil, or olive oil can be used instead. Avoid using butter since it won’t have the shelf life that oils do.

Seasoning – Besides cinnamon and vanilla extract, granola is perfect with pumpkin pie spice seasoning, or apple pie spice!

Add-Ins – Unsweetened coconut flakes are naturally sweet and chewy. Swap coconut out for chopped dried fruit like cherries, raisins, cranberries, mangoes, or blueberries after the granola is baked if desired. Sprinkle on chocolate chips on freshly baked granola for a little treat! You can add a tablespoon of chia seeds, amaranth, or even quinoa for more texture if desired.

PRO TIP:

Make a keto granola by omitting the oatmeal and doubling up on nuts and seeds like almonds, pecans, walnuts, chia, sunflower, and pumpkin seeds and using sugar-free maple syrup or monk fruit syrup.
